Let’s face it. Traveling can be stressful - From the initial planning stages to the act of getting from point ‘A’ to ‘B’. Thankfully, there are a ton of apps out there that can make the execution of your travel plans a lot simpler. Here are five of my favorite FREE apps to use when I’m on the go!
We’re all looking to book our flight and hotels for the right price and the right time. That’s where Hopper comes in handy. Hopper boasts a 95% accuracy rate of predicting prices for flights and hotels up to a year in advance.
How it works: Hopper sends you notifications at optimal times to book. Just enter your preferred dates and destination in the app, then wait to be alerted of the right time to make your travel arrangements.
Are you looking to book last-minute hotel plans at a deeply discounted rate? Roomer is your answer.
How it works: People with nonrefundable hotel rooms post their unused reservations at a steeply marked down price. You then may purchase and have the booking transferred to you.
Billed as the “ultimate transport app”, City Mapper serves as a public transit and mapping service for 40 major cities around the world.
How it works: The app is a one-stop-shop to find routes, times, and fares to get you from point A to B using public transportation services, such as taxis, trams, metros, bus, rails, and even ferries.
We all need Wi-Fi, especially during international travel, when many of us don’t have access to our cellular data. This is where WiFi Map becomes convenient. The app shows you all the locations where free Wi-Fi is offered near you.
How it works: Just turn on your GPS or enter your location, and every place near you where Wi-Fi is offered will populate.
In case you don’t have Wi-Fi access, Maps.me offers offline navigation to help you get around as a tourist on foot or by car.
How it works: Enter your destination at a location where Wi-Fi is present, in advance. The app will automatically download your route for offline use. As an additional feature, Maps.me provides ready-made downloadable guides of the city of your visit.
With these apps, you’re sure to travel to any city like a pro!
